During the buildup to the 2025 IFAF Americans Flag Football Championships, IFAF has posed questions to the head coaches of the men’s and women’s teams about to compete for continental glory.
Mexico women’s head coach Ernesto Alfaro Espinoza
What is the emotion and atmosphere in the Mexican team after winning at the World Games?
An atmosphere of great joy, satisfaction, and motivation from the result obtained.
What do you think was different in the team in Chengdu compared to the defeat in the World Championship final in Finland
The mental strength and confidence in the team, as well as the study of the rivals.
What do you think of the group you have been drawn into? You play against Canada again after having beaten them in Chengdu.
It is a competitive group; flag football is growing a lot worldwide, and that makes any rival a concern. In particular, Canada, which we know has a great team, will always be a challenging match against that nation.
Can you describe what the rivalry with the United States is like?
It is a very high sports rivalry that has existed for a long time, which grew with the WG in Alabama. With the recent finals played, it has become a classic.
Mexico Women’s Offensive Coach Daniela Conde Avila
What is the emotion and atmosphere in the Mexico team after winning at the World Games?
Focused atmosphere, centered on the fact that it has happened and the happiness will always last for that achievement, but the path continues to be built towards our greater goal. Preparation has always distinguished us, so we are taking that course again, preparing for our commitment.
What do you think was different in the team in Chengdu compared to the loss in the World Championship final in Finland?
In terms of offense, being more specific in the game plan and paying attention to detail; evolving our football and fighting until the end.
What do you think about the group you have been drawn into?
We have always believed that thinking about gold means beating all your group rivals, the semifinal, and the final opponent; there are no easy or hard paths, simply the one who thinks about gold like us must beat EVERYONE, the groups are just the path, and every match is important, not just Canada.
Can you describe what the rivalry with the United States is like?
Challenging. It challenges everything that is Flag football: study, analysis, strategy, improvisation, game plan, being mentally pushed to the limit; for me... it's just about thinking at the best level of Flag, both of us have it.
