Member federations of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) are in the process of undertaking an Annual Member Survey, which allows IFAF to track the growth and development of the sport around the world.
The survey is critical to supporting both the planning of IFAF and reporting effectively to international organizations.
In 2023, IFAF achieved two landmarks which have proven to be defining for the sport worldwide. First, IFAF secured full IOC recognition - a testament to work undertaken to strengthen the federation and demonstrate strong governance. Second, flag football was named as an additional sport on the program for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
These two achievements, allied to incredible work undertaken by IFAF member federations to develop the sport across all disciplines in their own nations, have proven to be a real catalyst for growth and development.
In addition to tracking the ongoing growth and development of the sport on a year-on-year basis, the purpose of the Annual Report is to ensure that IFAF can learn from best practices and develop support programs that meet the needs of its membership.
Members are being asked to complete questions relating to multiple areas of business:
Governance: to ensure that IFAF understands the way in which federations are structured and governed.
Policies and Procedures: to determine if members publish core documents (Statutes, Company Structure. Etc.) online, recognize the WADA Code, have an Anti-Doping Policy and Education Program and recognize the IFAF Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions.
Policy: to determine if members have an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and a Sustainability Policy.
Other areas covered by the survey include finance, social media, digital, data capture, membership, domestic championships, school outreach, technical staff and officiating, coaching, education, player development, performance, inclusion, and facilities.
