The 2025 IFAF Central America Championships are poised to kick off in Honduras as four nations battle for the region’s international tackle football crown in the nation’s capital Tegucigalpa.
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua will each play two group games between April 3 and 6 at the Estadio Olímpico José Simón Azcona. The tournament action moves to El Salvador this summer when the concluding group games will determine matchups for the Gold Medal and Bronze Medal games to be played on Sunday, July 27.
This historic first Central America tournament to be sanctioned by the International Federation of American Football begins on Thursday, April 3, when Guatemala takes on El Salvador at 2pm. Hosts Honduras then meet Nicaragua at 5pm. Some games will be streamed live on IFAF.TV.
The action continues at the Estadio Olímpico José Simón Azcona on Sunday, April 6, when El Salvador meets Nicaragua at 12pm and Honduras faces Guatemala at 3pm.
The group stages conclude in El Salvador on Thursday, July 24 with Guatemala versus Nicaragua (2pm) and El Salvador vs Honduras (5pm). The first and second placed teams in the final standings will earn the right to contest the championship game with the third and fourth placed teams playing for the bronze medal.
“This is another significant step for tackle football in Central America as the four nations are now consistently entering competitions, with this the first taking one place as a sanctioned IFAF event,” said IFAF Director for the Americas Javier L’Episcopo. “We look forward to a series of exciting games and thank the federations of Honduras and El Salvador for hosting the championships.”
When the four nations last met in 2024 in a joint celebration of tackle and flag football played across three countries, Nicaragua emerged as the tackle football champions.2025 IFAF Central America Championships Schedule (All times local)
