International Women’s Day 2024
IFAF has collaborated with the four other new Olympic sports on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2024. IFAF teamed up with the newly introduced sports for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, including the International Cricket Council (ICC), World Lacrosse (WL), World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), and World Squash Federation (WSF). Star players from all the sports came together to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024 through the theme “Inspire Inclusion,” with athletes striking the “inclusion pose” 🫶🏼 Smriti Mandhana (Cricket), Diana Flores (Flag Football), Erica Evans (Lacrosse), Kelly Maxwell (Softball) and Nour El Sherbini (Squash) united to amplify the message through a video discussing what inclusion feels like. “It feels like winning,” said Mandhana, the vice-captain of India women’s cricket team. “It feels like togetherness,” affirmed Flores, quarterback for Mexico, who won Gold in the 2022 World Games. “It feels like you can inspire the world,” World number one women’s squash champion, El Sherbini stated. “It feels like someone’s got your back,” Evans added. “It feels like every woman can dream bigger,” Maxwell proclaimed. Diana Flores, Chair of the IFAF Athlete Committee and Executive Board Member welcomed the collaboration and its message. "I am delighted to come together with these incredible female athletes on International Women's Day to champion the powerful message of #InspireInclusion. Inclusion is about empowerment and each new sport included at LA28 shares a commitment to inspiring the next generation and fostering a future that is inclusive and equitable for all." International Women’s Day is observed on 8 March every year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. The day is also a reminder and call to action for the acceleration of gender parity.
