Honduras Jaguares
Central and South America has long been a fertile home for football with the national federation of Honduras overseeing a strong and vibrant league. In 2022 the men's national championship crown was captured by the Jaguares who narrowly defeated rivals the Raptors. As the team entered 2023 with a view to defending their national title the Jaguares took the opportunity to play the renowned Costa Rican team the San Jose Torros in a cross-border fixture. An encounter which saw a tremendous level of skill on display ended with a 30-0 victory to the Torros. Javier L'Episcopo, IFAF Director for the Americas said of the game 'Across the Americas we have a number of strong domestic leagues and the opportunity for teams to test themselves against opponents from other nations add real value to the programs.' L'Episcopo continued 'This game shows the value of federations collaborating to sanction games between member teams and allow players and coaches to test themselves in an international context.'
