In Group C of the 2026/27 IFAF U19 European Tackle Football Championships the permutations are straightforward as Germany (1-0) will host Finland (1-0) with the winner advancing to the medal games in 2027.

Finland is a three-time U19s champion having won the inaugural title in 1992 and successfully defended the crown in 1994 and 1996. The Finns have won the bronze medal at the past two tournaments. It was Germany who first dethroned Finland in 1998 and went on to win two straight titles and their third and final success in 2008 and their last medal a silver in 2015.

Germany eased past Hungary 79-7 in April, while Finland survived a scare against Poland to edge a close game 16-13. The old rivals meet at the Jahnstadion in Langenfeld on Saturday (kickoff 11am CET).

“We are very excited for the upcoming game against Finland, which is another chance for us to finally prove that we belong back at the top in Europe,” said Germany head coach Peter Daletzki, who ran the rule over 68 players at a camp in Düsseldorf before selecting a 45-man roster. “Our boys are hungry and want to show what they’ve got.”

The loser of that clash will join the group of nations playing for fourth place overall.

Finland assistant head coach J-P Kuusisto said: “Germany are undoubtedly one of the strongest teams in this competition, and we are excited to take them on in their own backyard. This is a great opportunity for our first-time internationals to test themselves against Europe’s best in their age group. With the domestic season having just ended, the team is in good game shape, and we are ready for the battle.”
