The International Federation of American Football has laid down a series of regulations which determine the eligibility of players to compete for their respective national teams.
These guidelines are in force for all IFAF-sanctioned international competitions.
Nations may use their own discretion on how they enact these at domestic level.
Participation in IFAF-sanctioned competitions is governed by clear and consistent eligibility criteria, designed to ensure fair competition, protect the integrity of the sport, and protect athlete welfare. These criteria address athlete age, nationality, and gender, and apply to all Member Federations, teams, and individuals seeking to take part in IFAF events.
IFAF is committed to eligibility rules that are transparent, non-discriminatory, and rooted in good practice.
The Eligibility documentation can be found in the Library section of the website under the Football Operations section.
