The men’s and women’s national teams of five IFAF member federations will compete in the flag football tournament at the Juegos Centroamericanos Guatemala 2025 – the 2025 Central American Games - from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 of October.
Panama is co-hosting the overall games organized by ORDECA, the Organización Deportiva Centroamericana, at the Emilio Royo Stadium in Panama City.
Teams from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama will play a round robin competition on Friday and Saturday. The semifinals and medal games will be played on Sunday, October 26.
“This is a great opportunity for teams from the Central American region to showcase their talents on a prominent stage,” said IFAF Continental Director Javier L’Episcopo, who, on behalf of IFAF, has led the coordination of the event with the Local Organising Committee. “Hosts Panama have already established themselves in the international game and having newcomers such as Nicaragua and Honduras compete shows the positive growth flag football is experiencing in this region.”
Panama’s men and women both finished fourth overall at the 2025 IFAF Flag Football World Championships, which were played in Panama in September, while El Salvador and Guatemala also participated.
IFAF Managing Director, Andy Fuller, welcomed the inclusion of flag football in the programme saying: "On behalf of IFAF, I would like to thank all the key stakeholders in supporting the inclusion of flag football. We are honoured to be present at the Games and look forward to a fabulous competition."
A total of 12 officials representing all five participating nations, Argentina and Chile have been assigned to the games, with seven male and five female officials taking charge.
