Euro Flag Questions SUI M

During the buildup to the 2025 Euro Flag 2025, IFAF has posed three questions to the head coaches of the men’s and women’s teams ranked in the Top Six in the world, who are about to compete for continental glory.

Switzerland men’s head coach Urs Fässler has been playing flag football for more than 20 years and serves as a player-coach as well. He has also coached tackle football in different positions for more than a decade, allowing him to understand both sides of the game and to help players grow on and off the field. Last summer Switzerland won the bronze medal at the 2024 IFAF Flag Football World Championships in Finland and are ranked seventh in the world.

What are the goals for your team in this tournament?

Our goal is clear: we are only prepared to win. We want to prove that Switzerland is a tough opponent for anyone and that we can deliver consistent, high-level performances throughout the tournament. We are excited to be part of the tournament and to compete at the highest level.

What will be the strengths of your team and which players should we watch for?

Our greatest strength is our team spirit – we play for each other and grow stronger together in difficult moments. You’ll recognize many familiar faces from previous tournaments, but we’ve also added some exciting new talent that brings extra speed and versatility to our roster. Keep an eye on the mix of experience and youth in our squad – it makes us dangerous in every phase of the game.

What do you think of the group you have been drawn into?

At this level, there are no easy groups. Every team has the potential to beat anyone on a given day. We’re glad to meet some familiar opponents again and we look forward to testing ourselves against the new contenders. These matchups will push us to bring our best version right from the start.
