Euro Flag Questions Austria W

During the buildup to the 2025 Euro Flag 2025, IFAF has posed three questions to the head coaches of the men’s and women’s teams ranked in the Top Six in the world, who are about to compete for continental glory.

Nobody has won more gold medals in European continental competition than Austria, who were crowned champions four consecutive times from 2009 to 2015. Their last medal success came at the IFAF world championships when a 26-13 win over Brazil claimed bronze in Israel.

It was Robert Reidl who led Austria to their quadruple medal haul in Europe, second place at the IFAF World Championships in 2016 and third place at the 2010 and 2014 tournaments. Only a one-point loss to Japan denied Austria the worlds bronze medal in Finland last year and they lost the bronze medal game to Canada at The World Games last month.

What are the goals for your team in this tournament ?

The goal is to finish as the best European Team, as in the last two tournaments we played.

What will be the strengths of your team and what did you learn about your team at The World Games?

The strength of our team is the offense. Defense is improving rapidly and has already reached a high level. The World Games have shown that we can compete with the best teams in the world if we manage to play an entire game at a top level.

What do you think of the group you have been drawn into?

I think we got a very balanced group. Newcomer Slovenia is a very strong team we know from the Austrian league. The Swiss played a good World Championship last year and almost defeated Spain. Israel and the Netherlands have decent teams that can surprise.
