The 2025 IFAF Americas Flag Football Continental Championships in Panama included a look at some of the sport’s stars of tomorrow as teams representing Guatemala, Mexico and Panama competed in four youth categories in Penomone.

U17 Girls

At the U17 Girls level, Mexico took home the gold medal with a 24-19 win over host Panama having topped their group with a 4-0 record.

Alejandra Ramos of Panama Rojo threw for 14 touchdowns in all games and her teammate Sofia Gamecho was the leading receiver with four scores. Wendy Nogueda of Mexico threw eight touchdowns.

Mexico 4-0 Panama Rojo 2-2 Panama Azul 2-2

U17 Boys

Mexico also triumphed in the U17 Boys tournament with a 34-12 win over Panama having gone unbeaten in the group stages with four wins.

Jose Joly from Panama threw for 13 touchdowns in all games, four more that Mexico’s Oziel Sandoval, while Joan Minjarey of Mexico came up with 7 total touchdowns.

Mexico 4-0 Panama 2-2 Guatemala 0-4

U15 Girls

Panama’s Rojo team took the U15 Girls title with a 13-6 win in the final over Panama Azul, who had led the group stages with a 3-1 record to Mexico’s 2-2 finish.

Nicole Guerrero of Panama Rojo threw for 11 touchdowns, just one more than compatriot Jia Mong of Panama Azul, while Maria Ramos had 7.

Panama Azul 3-1 Panama Rojo 2-2 Mexico 1-3

U15 Boys

Hosts Panama triumphed in the U15 Boys competition, beating group winners Mexico Rojo 34-12 in the title game.

Panama’s Carlos Moses led the way among quarterbacks with 5 touchdown passes, closely followed by Ricardo Zarinana of Mexico Rojo (4) and Nikolas Fonseca of Mexico Verde (3).
