Defending champion the United States will meet arch-rival Mexico in the semifinals of the 2025 IFAF Americas Flag Football Continental Championships in a repeat of last month’s nail-biting final of The World Games in China.
USA beat hosts Panama 34-6 at the Estadio Virgilio Tejeira Andrión on Saturday to top Group A, while Mexico suffered their first loss to the tournament in an agonizing 26-25 defeat to Canada. Mexico quarterback Diana Flores brought her nation back from a 13-point deficit but an extra point attempt to tie the contest failed and Canada sealed victory with an interception.
Group B winners Canada, who gained revenge for their own defeat to Mexico in China, will take on Group B runners up Panama. Both semifinals will be played at 9.15am Central Time. The winners will play in the women’s Gold Medal Game at 2.15pm after the Bronze medal Game at 11.45am.
It feels incredible,” said Canada quarterback Sara Parker. “We are constantly trying to prove that we belong in the top three and are fighting really hard to win that gold medal. I’m super proud of us and we deserve this. We mase sure that we are ready for any situation and I think that really showed.”
Regardless of the results, all four nations will join host Germany and IFAF Africa Flag champion Nigeria in qualifying for the 2026 IFAF Flag Football World Championships to be played in Dusseldorf from August 13-16.
The fifth and final place at the world championships will be decided on Sunday when four nations – Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Argentina - participate in a round robin competition to stamp that precious ticket to Dusseldorf.
Games are streamed from 8am Central Time on IFAF.TV. The full schedule, results and standings for the knockout and placement games are available at https://affpanama.org/calendario_ffcc/ and through the official tournament app Boolw.
