IFAF America
Americas Preview Jamaica men
8 September 2025
During the buildup to the 2025 IFAF Americans Flag Football Championships, IFAF has posed three questions to the head coaches of the men’s and women’s teams about to compete for continental glory.
Jamaica Men’s Head Coach Kevin Dawkins brings more than 25 years of coaching experience in both flag football and American football across Canada, the USA, and internationally. He has won national championships in both Canada and the USA as a coach and a player. In recognition of his contributions, he was inducted into the USTFL Hall of Fame as a coach. In addition, he played many years of semi-pro football in Canada, winning multiple championships during his career.
What are the goals for your team in this tournament? Our primary goal is to finish high enough to qualify and advance to the IFAF World Championships. Along the way, we want to win, learn, and succeed, ensuring that every game helps us grow stronger as a team. What will be the strengths of your team, and which players should we watch for? Our biggest strength lies in our combination of size and speed, which will allow us to compete physically and athletically against any opponent. With our experience and determination, we expect to improve with every game and surprise a few teams along the way. Players to watch include Clifford Kurker – a dynamic athlete with extensive American football experience, who will be a major deep-ball threat - and Shawayne Collins – an experienced two-way player whose speed and versatility will make an impact on both sides of the ball. What do you think of the group you have been drawn into? We know that every team in our group will be a challenge, and we respect the talent across the board. Facing Mexico, Panama, Chile, Argentina, and El Salvador will push us to raise our level, and we’re excited for the opportunity to compete against such strong programs.
