During the buildup to the 2025 IFAF Americans Flag Football Championships, IFAF has posed three questions to the head coaches of the men’s and women’s teams about to compete for continental glory.
Jon Snyder, the head coach of the Salvadoran men’s team, has many years of coaching experience at various levels in flag football. HIs current focus is on the El Salvador national men’s flag football team, as well as helping develop talent across the country, from youth programs to adult athletes.
“It’s about building a competitive team today while laying the foundation for the future of the sport in our country,” he says.
What are the goals for your team in this tournament ?
Our main goal is to compete at a high level and push deep into the tournament. We want to represent El Salvador with pride, play disciplined and exciting football, and show the results of the hard work we've put in. More than that, we want our performance to inspire the next generation and help grow the sport back in El Salvador.
What will be the strengths of your team and which players should we watch for?
Our strength is our balance and unity. We bring energy, discipline, and a true team-first mentality on both sides of the ball. Offensively, wide receiver Ian Snyder is a key player to watch. His elite hands and game awareness make him a consistent playmaker and one of the top threats in the tournament. Defensively, our unit has been working relentlessly and is ready to meet tough challenges head-on. Expect aggressive, smart, and team-driven football.
What do you think of the group you have been drawn into (El Salvador faces Mexico, Panama, Chile, Jamaica and Argentina)?
It's a tough group, but that’s exactly what we expect at this level. Every team brings something different, and we respect the competition. We're embracing the challenge — strong opponents push us to elevate our game and show what El Salvador is capable of on the international stage.
