Americas Preview Panama Women

During the buildup to the 2025 IFAF Americans Flag Football Championships, IFAF has posed three questions to the head coaches of the men’s and women’s teams about to compete for continental glory.

Eric Espino is the head coach of Panama’s women’s team. In 2016 he led Panama to the IFAF World Championships gold medal when a 35-22 win over Austria saw them crowned world champions in the United States. He has coaches flag football for 23 years.

What are the goals for your team in this tournament? We want to qualify for the IFAF World Championships in 2026 and do that by finishing within the top three in the Americas.

What will be the strengths of your team, and which players should we watch for? The team's strengths are tactical discipline, cohesion, and group chemistry. Our receivers Tatiana Dos Santos and María Baloy will cause a lot of problems for the defenses. What do you think of the group you have been drawn into? It's a very even group, with rivalries such as Brazil, the memorable matches we've played against the USA, and new teams like Jamaica and Colombia that are coming to showcase their talent to win a spot in the next World Championships.
