Representatives of IFAF member federations have taken advantage of the historic partnership between IFAF and the International Testing Agency (ITA) by attending the first in a series of online webinars to support the clean sport mission.
ITA hosted the inaugural Clean Sport Seminar for IFAF member federations on May 27 to provide an overview of anti-doping education and its role in supporting Athletes to compete clean. IFAF member federations have an important role in education efforts and were introduced to specific responsibilities during the session. Recognising the complexities of anti-doping, the webinar also presented the available resources to support IFAF members.
In attendance were Board Members, Clean Sport Officers, Team Medical Personnel, Federation Staff and representatives from Federation Entourage and Athlete Committees as Member Federations look to step up their commitment to clean sport and demonstrate good governance.
“Clean sport is a major issue for IFAF,” Andy Fuller, managing director of IFAF told the attendees. “It underpins the integrity of our competitions and the welfare of our athletes today we'll provide the first step in a renewed education program that aims to support members in understanding and delivering against our code compliance agenda.”
Attendees were asked to consider a series of anti-doping scenarios by presenter Armado Urban of the ITA education team to test their clean sport knowledge and help their understanding and future administration.
The webinar covered multiple areas of anti-doping, including results management, out of competition testing, intelligence and investigations, compliance, therapeutic use exemptions, in-competition testing and risk assessment.
The International Testing Agency (ITA) is an international organisation constituted as a not-for-profit foundation, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Its mission is to manage anti-doping programs, independent from sporting or political powers, for International Federations (IFs), Major Event Organisers (MEOs) and all other anti-doping organisations requesting support.
The ITA generates value for International Federations and Major Events Organisers by delivering high-quality anti-doping services, and by ensuring the partners’ credibility and recognition in the fight against doping. To achieve this, the ITA strives for continuous improvement of its staff, processes and technology across all areas of activity.
