Cataldo Receives Landmark Qualification
27 March 2023
The Chilean Olympic Committee (COCH) together with the Chilean National Sports Federation of American Football (FDNFA), alongside other national federations, have worked since 2020 on the creation of the National Olympic Sports Certification Program for coaches in order to professionalize coaches of the various sports disciplines, drawing together the pillars of Sports Science, as well as tactical and technical plans.
Within the panel of specialists who participated in the realization of this syllabus was the Head Coach of the FDNFA National Teams, Mr. Gonzalo Cataldo, who managed to obtain the A1 license – the high-performance license.
During an event held on Friday, March 23 certification was presented to coaches who undertook the courses. Presentations were made by Director of the COCH, Mr. Luis Santa Cruz.
"This program is not only to train new coaches, it also seeks to recognize the previous learning of coaches in their academic part in Sports Sciences, Sports Methodologies, Sports Planning, Tactical and Technical Development, etc., to demonstrate the skills they have in their positions," said Monica Saldias, Vice President of FDNFA.
"With this process, the National Olympic Committee will supervise coaches in Chile and will ensure that they have the best professionals within the country's Federations, thus seeking that the coach is an integral professional in sports science as well as in their discipline" added Saldias.
"Educational programs in different countries of the continent aimed at those who help deliver the different aspects of our sport are always welcome since they improve the performance of athletes and coaches and help increase safety in the practice of the sport" said Javier L'Episcopo, IFAF Director for the Americas.
"IFAF welcomes the strong relationship which our Member Federation in Chile has developed with the key stakeholders” added L'Episcopo.
