IFAF is pleased to be able to release the fixtures for the upcoming 2023 - 2024 IFAF European Championship (W-Tackle) which is set to be one of the most exciting ever, coming off the back of the hugely successful World Championship in Vantaa, Finland. Players who starred at the Myyrmaen Jalkapallostadion last summer will feature across four of the teams taking part in the Championship as reigning European Champions Finland are joined by World silver medallists Great Britain, 2019 European silver medallists Sweden and 2015 Bronze medallists Germany. They will be joined by Spain, host nation of the 2015 European Championship. The tournament format sees a departure from the traditional model of all games being played in a single host nation over the course of 10 days with teams now playing a round-robin of fixtures over a 2-year period giving nations annual activity to complement their ever-growing domestic programmes. With dates being finalised, the provisional schedule will see following clashes (home team v away team): 2023 Great Britain v Sweden Finland v Spain Germany v Great Britain Spain v Germany Sweden v Finland 2024 Spain v Great Britain Finland v Germany Sweden v Spain Germany v Sweden Great Britain v Finland Javier Carrasco, the Championship’s Technical Delegate, said: "The upcoming European Championship with its new format is set to be the most exciting ever and I cannot wait for us to kick-off the new campaign. “We really want to capture the momentum generated from the IFAF World Championships last summer, which will significantly help us take this competition to the next level.” Carrasco concluded ‘I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the Team Managers who have been working closely with IFAF in planning the competition. Their dedication and expertise has been instrumental in launching this new format.” Photo: Jari Turunen
