The 2022 IFAF Women's World Championship is set to kick off today in Helsinki, Finland. Staged at the famed Myyrmäki Football Stadium, the venue for the 2013 IFAF Women's World Championship and the 2018 IFAF Men's European Championship, teams from the Americas, Europe and Oceania will battle for gold. The opening slate of fixtures include host nation Finland taking on Nordic rivals Sweden, reigning World Champions United States against Germany and 2017 silver medalists Canada facing Australia. The rematch of the 2017 bronze medal game between Mexico and Great Britain will now not take place as scheduled. IFAF can confirm that Great Britain will be awarded a default victory in the fixture and will face the winners of the Canada vs Australia match-up.
