IFAF 2022 European Committee Strategy Summit

Paris, France: On Saturday, May 7, representatives from IFAFs European members met in Paris, France, under the banner of 'Leading Football Worldwide' to discuss continental strategy with a key focus on governance, clean sport, athlete representation, and competition structures.

Thirteen countries came together, taking advantage of the opportunity to travel and meet for the first time in over two years following the easing of restrictions after the pandemic. Nations present included Switzerland, Israel, Czech Republic, Serbia, Ireland, Sweden, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, France, and Finland.

“I was delighted to see so many federations,” Thomas Meyer from AFVD said. "Today saw great discussion about important things to be handled by the federations and IFAF”.

The meeting not only saw a discussion on IFAF-led initiatives, it also served to highlight the different activities that the members are doing in their respective federations and share best practice.

Christoph Seyrl from AFBÖ, welcomed a “very positive discussion" which left him "motivated for the future of tackle and flag football”.

The meeting was opened by Pierre Trochet, attending his first in-person continental meeting since being elected IFAF President in December.

“I am glad that everyone made the effort to come here today. Whilst online meetings have been valuable, it makes a big difference to meet face-to-face," Trochet said.

He continued, "Today has given us the opportunity to discuss a series of important topics and lay the foundation for the new competition cycles".

"I am looking forward to seeing nations come together again at Congress in July at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama so we can review the progress made," Trochet concluded.
