Euro 21 Final
All set for the long-awaited IFAF European Championship (M-Tackle) final between Italy and Sweden. The game starts at 12.30 on Sunday, October 31, in Malmö, Sweden. Finland and France will battle for the third place on Saturday, October 30, in Vantaa, Finland We have waited a long time but Europe will finally crown its American football champions at the end of October! The IFAF European Championship final will be played at Malmö Stadion in the Swedish city of Malmö with kick-off at 12.30 on Sunday, October 31. The much-anticipated battle between Italy and Sweden to decide who takes home the European title will be held in the world-famous stadium with a maximum capacity of 25,000. The hosts have confirmed that there will be no special restrictions as the public health situation in Sweden improves. The two national teams have taken very different paths to get to this point: Sweden first beat Great Britain (36-14), then Russia (34-7) and topped it off with a 22-14 win against Finland on August 7 to wrap up a cycle than began exactly two years ago in October 2019. As for Italy, they recorded a slightly surprising victory against Austria on October 6, 2019, then trounced Switzerland in November of the same year. It all ground to a sudden halt with the semi-final in August when the hosts were ready to welcome France in Piacenza. Once again it was COVID that put a spanner in the works and prevented the French (the reigning European champions) from playing and defending the title. With the champions unable to compete Italy was catapulted straight into the final. ‘We are looking forward to a tremendous game of football between two outstanding teams’ said IFAF President Richard MacLean. The team to fill the last place on the Group A podium will be decided in the third-place playoff when France and Finland go head to head in Vantaa (Finland). This game is on Saturday, October 30, with the kick-off scheduled for 2.00 pm local time. During their last face-to-face in 2018, the Tricolors won 21-14 against the Suomis. Finland has since lost 14-22 to Sweden in the semi-finals, while the French were unable to play Italy due to positive COVID-19 cases. The two teams hope to offer the fans at the Myyrmäen jalkapallostadion one last firework display to conclude this new European cycle. Both nations have a proud history. Finland has one of the best American football records in Europe, having won five titles since 1983. The French won the 2018 edition.
